Experiments with Force and Motion

As part of our exploration into Force and Motion, we have been making Marble Runs, Marble Mazes and Domino Chains.
Cyrus created an effective chain of DVD cases and books, beginning his chain by rolling a ball towards it and also getting it to run around a corner.

With the challenge on to experiment with a large run of dominoes, Joshua built a superbly complex design. He used a range of layered dominoes, a car race track and a small car to launch his chain.

If you would like more information or to see what others have created and learnt, please scroll down to the padlets below and view our class work which is getting updated and added to most days.

  1. Wow Cyrus, your chain of books and DVD cases looks like it's effective. My Grandchildren and I used your idea to have a go in our bubble during the weekend.
I think you could show me a few tips on how to make it more effective, as our ball was a bit small to knock the whole chain over effectively.

  2. This looks like an awesome activity to do at home. Ka pai Cyrus and Joshua. Room 13 did something a little similar with Rube Goldberg machines. I hope you had fun making this. Keep up the great work!

  3. Now this is my type of science. It is so much fun to build stuff and then so gratifying to knock it all down again. Great stuff Room 17.
