Our Summer Challenge poem - Writers Circle

We've been given a challenge to write a summer poem, that uses only 3 of our senses, based on a picture of a boy mowing a lawn.  Stage 1 was to draw and then brainstorm some ideas for the sounds and smells we would have on a summer's day while lawns are being mown in the neighbourhood.

Today's stage was to read the mentor's piece of writing, and look at the set out and language used. Using highlighters we located nouns, verbs and adjectives; talking about how they were used and what they do in a piece of writing.

Our next stage is to write our own, and share with each other so that we can make it come alive for our readers.
